Honey Butter DJ's Boudain Biscuit

Give a Texas breakfast favorite a boudain twist. Crispy DJ's Boudain, warm buttermilk biscuits, and sweet Whataburger Honey Butter come together in this easy recipe that's perfect for breakfast, brunch, or anytime you're craving something delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (8-count) homestyle buttermilk biscuits
  • 4 DJ's Boudain links, removed from the casing (2 12oz packs)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking oil (enough for 1/2 inch in a skillet)
  • Whataburger Honey Butter

Directions

  1. Bake the biscuits according to the package directions (or prepare homemade biscuits if preferred).
  2. Heat about 1/2 inch of high heat cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Score each DJ's Boudain link lengthwise and discard casing. Break each link in half, then gently press each half into a patty about the size of a biscuit. You should have 8 patties total.
  4. Dip each patty into beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and panko coating if needed until the patties are fully coated.
  5. Carefully place the patties into the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  6. Slice each biscuit in half. Spread Whataburger Honey Butter on the bottom half, add a crispy DJ's Boudain patty, drizzle with a little more honey butter, and top with the remaining biscuit half. Finish with a spread of melted honey butter, or regular butter, on top for the perfect presentation.
  7. Serve warm.

Tips

• Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet and maintain crispy patties.
• If the patties brown too quickly, reduce the heat slightly to ensure they're heated through.
• Serve immediately while the biscuits are warm and the patties are crispy.
